5 days till lift off....

Gabi and I are just 5 days away from taking off on our extended globetrotting journey. We'll be posting updates on this blog for anyone interested (i.e. parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and an eclectic mix of others looking to live vicariously through us as we drain our bank accounts).

The big day has finally come!! We're typing this sitting in a lounge in YVR's international terminal thinking of how lucky we are. We're especially lucky to have such an amazing support network of friends and family.  You've let us repurpose part of their houses as storage lockers, let us borrow cars and bikes after we sold ours, you've been shoulder to shoulder with us in the thick of helping us pack and clean our apartment for the tenants coming in, you've taken on extra work as colleagues to cover for us while we're off line,  and overall you've all been exceptionally understanding of the madness that our lives have been these last few months. The Millski's return to blogging: The Millar's in the Lowlands

The Millar mode of travel is often quite intense. Growing up, a common refrain in the Millar house after returning from a trip is that we “need a vacation from our vacation”. Despite all of us being 20 years older, we seem to have made no change to travel habits during our week together in Scotland. Though I don’t remember drinking quite so many pints and whiskey drams as a 10 year old… The result is that Gabi and I were quite tired sitting in the Glasgow airport awaiting our flight to Islay and never got past a few paragraphs for this blog post. Then a combination of rapid Nordic city hoping, and a healthy does of excuse making meant delaying our return to blogging until now at the tail end of our time in Europe, sitting in our friend's apartment in Troms ΓΈ on a grey drizzly day. London Calling

TL;DR - We napped, looked at art, and drank. Also met up with an old friend we met on a trip in 2019. After a relatively smooth flight full of movie binges and micro naps we found ourselves in in the great city of London! We made our way to our Airbnb in the heart of the Waterloo district and promptly took a 30 minute nap.... which lasted 3 hours.  Finally conscious and refreshed we strolled around the South Bank Center, finding a sea of patios, food stands and beer gardens. Our ultimate destination that evening was the famed Sky Garden at the top of the "Walkie-Talkie" building to catch the sunset over England's largest city. Day two in London began with us enjoying a home cooked breakfast in our Airbnb's oasis of an garden. Then we set off for a full day of walking the city.
